URAN: The International Labor Organization (ILO) is hosting its highly anticipated International Labor Conference in Geneva, Switzerland, from June 1 to June 12, 2026. This prestigious global summit will see the participation of over 9,000 delegates, including top employers, labor ministers, and workers’ representatives from across the globe.
In a proud moment for India, Mahendrasheth Gharat—President of the New Maritime and General Kamgar Sanghatana and National Secretary of INTUC—has been officially selected to represent Indian laborers at this international platform with the approval of the Central Government.
Demonstrating immense dedication to the labor movement, Gharat chose to set aside his own birthday celebrations on June 1 and departed for Geneva early on May 30.
A Record of Global Representation
This marks the second time Mahendrasheth Gharat has been chosen for this esteemed global conference, having previously represented India in 2018. The ILO conference acts as a supreme global forum where critical labor issues, workers’ rights, and international labor laws are debated and formulated.
His second selection is widely being seen as a grand validation and acknowledgment of his lifelong, dedicated service to the working class through various labor unions.
