New Daily Express Train Approved for Konkan Railway: Inaugural Run Set for September 3
MUMBAI / RATNAGIRI : Central Railway and Konkan Railway are set to enhance connectivity between Mumbai and South Konkan with the launch of a new daily express train operating between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Sawantwadi Road.
The inaugural special run (Train No. 01001) will be flagged off virtually on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 12:45 PM by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, in the presence of Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Union Minister Piyush Goyal via video conferencing.
Inaugural Special Schedule (Train No. 01001)
- Departure: CSMT Mumbai at 12:45 PM (Thursday, September 3, 2026)
- Arrival: Sawantwadi Road at 02:00 AM (Friday, September 4, 2026)
- Travel Time: 13 hours and 15 minutes
This inaugural trip will run as a one-way special service. Details regarding the return inaugural journey will be announced by Indian Railways shortly.
Regular Daily Service Details
Following the inaugural run, the route will transition into a regular daily service under train numbers 15087 / 15088 (CSMT – Sawantwadi Road – CSMT Daily Express). The official timetable, commercial stoppage details, and booking schedules for the regular service will be released separately by railway authorities.
