Jalandhar : Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off India’s first-ever hydrogen-powered train in Jind, Haryana, marking a significant step in India’s clean energy journey.

  • Global Recognition: With this inauguration, India has joined an exclusive club of countries across the world that operate hydrogen train technology.
  • Route and Efficiency: The new hydrogen train will operate on the 89-kilometer Jind to Sonipat route, completing the journey in two hours with 12 stops along the way.
  • Unmatched Features: This hydrogen train boasts an impressive 3,200 horsepower, making it the most powerful of its kind globally. It is also the longest hydrogen train in the world with ten coaches, surpassing the typical 3-4 coach configurations seen in other countries.
  • Strides Towards Self-Reliance: PM Modi drew a parallel with the pre-2014 era, stating that a disruption in diesel supply due to conflicts in West Asia could have crippled Indian Railways back then, as it heavily relied on diesel. However, with the current government proactively implementing solutions to problems, India is moving towards self-reliance.
