Mumbai: A delegation led by former MP Vinayak Raut today strongly opposed the Central Railway administration’s decision to discontinue the Dadar-Ratnagiri passenger train, which is popular among the common people of Konkan, and to run trains on the Gorakhpur and Ballia routes from the same platform at the same time. The delegation reminded the Central Railway administration of their letter dated January 9 and warned that if the train is not started from Dadar as before, they will not allow the Gorakhpur and Ballia trains to depart on March 1.

The passenger train, which has been running from Dadar Junction to Ratnagiri for nearly 20 years, was discontinued during the Corona period and is now being operated from Diva. A delegation led by former MP Vinayak Raut of Ratnagiri Sindhudurg met the General Manager of Central Railway at the General Manager’s office at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus on January 9 and demanded that the Dadar-Ratnagiri passenger train be started from Dadar Junction as before. Various passenger organizations, including Konkan residents, have been fighting for this for many months.

“The proposal for the Dadar-Ratnagiri passenger train will be sent to the Railway Board within the next week and information about its status will be given,”

-Deputy General Manager of Central Railway.
