  • Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw Launches New Train for Konkan via ‘VC

Mumbai : The first train from Mumbai’s western suburbs to Konkan via Vasai was flagged off on Thursday afternoon by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw through video conferencing from Borivali station, setting off towards Madgaon.

The inauguration ceremony of this first permanent train on the Konkan Railway route from Mumbai’s western suburbs, a long-standing demand for many years, took place on Thursday afternoon at Borivali railway station. The train running between Bandra and Madgaon was flagged off in the presence of Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, Mumbai BJP President Ashish Shelar, and local MLAs from Borivali, Dahisar, and Magathane. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw participated via video conferencing. After he flagged off the train, the inaugural journey towards Konkan began.

Many Mumbai-based residents of Konkan were present in large numbers for the inauguration ceremony of this first train from the western suburbs to Konkan. The grand inauguration event was marked with loud chants of “Jai Shivaji, Jai Bhavani and Ganpati Bappa Morya.”

Gratitude was expressed towards Piyush Goyal as this train on the Konkan Railway route was started as promised by him before the Lok Sabha elections.
