Mumbai : Shri Ram Karan Yadav, General Manager, Central Railway felicitated 14 Central Railway staff i.e. 5 from Mumbai Division, 5 from Bhusaval Division, 2 from Nagpur Division and 1 each from Pune and Solapur Divisions with Safety Award in a function held at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai on 14.05.2024.
The awards were given in appreciation of their alertness during duty, their contribution in averting untoward incidents and ensuring safety in train operations during the previous months. The award consists of a medal, commendation certificate, a citation of exemplary safety work and cash of ₹ 2000/-.
Mumbai Division
- Shri Ujjwal Kumar, Trackman, Panvel, during work on 09/04/2024, point no. of Nilje station. Noticed crack in rail head behind 103B. By taking immediate rescue action, made the first train pass with the speed restriction of 10 km and informed all concerned. A possible accident was averted due to efficiency and alertness.
- Shri J P Katkar, MCM/Electrical, Kurla Car Shed, during work on 06/04/2024, Kurla platform no. 1, the panto horn of unit no. 5427 of local T/33 was seen bent. Informed everyone concerned. This unit was isolated and taken to siding at Thane station. Due to alertness, panto entanglement and OHE breakdown was avoided.
- Shri Suresh Yadav, SCM/Mechanical, Mulund Siding, while checking the stable rake at the siding on 14/04/2024, found that the bogie bolster of one wagon was cracked which was difficult to see with the naked eye. Informed everyone concerned. The said wagon was separated from the rake. A possible accident was averted due to efficiency and alertness.
- Shri Shyam Manohar Sali, SCM/Mechanical, Lonavala, during maintenance of Military Special train at Lonavala freight depot on 04/04/2024, shackle spring of L spring of a wagon was seen broken. The said wagon was separated. A possible accident was averted due to alertness.
- Shri Pinto Meena, Assistant Station Manager, Igatpuri, on 04/04/2024 at 23.15 hrs, one of the three thieves who were committing theft in the old relay room in TGR 1 cabin was caught and handed over to RPF. By showing indomitable courage, saved the Railways from damage.
Bhusaval Division
- Shri Nagendra Kumar, Assistant Loco Pilot, Bhusaval, on 22/03/2024, during the work of 11055 Down Godan Express, the train stopped due to ACP as soon as it started from Nashik station. Saw smoke coming out of the rear SLR. Immediately separated the SLR from the rake with the help of other employees. Due to quick action the fire did not spread to other coaches.
- Shri Vasanta Rahul Dode, Trackman, Mana, during work on 22/03/2024, an unusual sound was heard while the vehicle was passing through Point No. 115 A. Immediately opened the fish plate and found a crack in the rail. Informed all concerned and protected the track. A possible accident was averted due to efficiency and alertness.
- Shri Deepak Shankar, Trackman, Malkapur, transverse weld fracture observed at Km 491/0 during patrolling on 26/03/2024. Protected the track by informing all concerned. A possible accident was averted due to efficiency and alertness
- Shri Dnyaneshwar Pandurang, SCM/Mechanical, Bhusaval, after arrival of BTPN load at Bhusaval yard on 07/04/2024, content leakage was found in one of the wagons which was informed to all concerned, as a result the said wagon was separated for trans-shipment. Due to vigilance the railways could be saved from damage.
- Shri Dinesh Yadav, Assistant Sub Inspector, Nashik, on 22/03/2024, smoke was coming out from the rear SLR of 11055 Down Godan Express. As soon as received the information, immediately reached the spot, informing all concerned and the fire brigade. Along with the fire brigade gave active cooperation in extinguishing the fire. Commendable work prevented the fire from spreading.
Nagpur Division
- Shri Sunderjeet Kumar, Guard, Nagpur, during GDR inspection at RPLW siding on 14/04/2024, a gap of 40 mm was observed in the side bearer of a wagon of a goods train. Informed everyone concerned. The said wagon was separated from service and the train was dispatched. A possible accident was avoided due to alertness.
- Shri Rajendra Ishwar Bothle, Trackman, Warora, during summer patrolling on 11/04/2024, a rail fracture was observed between kilometer 825/22-825 of the down line in which a round piece of rail had come out. Took immediate action, informed all concerned and saved the track, thereby saving the oncoming train 01315 from crashing.
Pune Division
- Shri Jagdish Maruti, Gangmate, Bhilwadi, on 26/03/2024, during work, an unusual sound was heard coming from the brake van of a passing unguarded goods train. Immediately informed the Station Manager/Bhilwadi. The goods train was stopped at Kirloskarwadi station and the said brake van was taken out of service. The accident was prevented due to alertness.
Solapur Division
- Shri Vilash Bharat, Trackman, Murud, Hot axle observed in a sleeper coach (S1) of train 01488 between Ausa Road – Dhoki station during work on 05/04/2024. Parked the car by showing red hand signal and informed everyone concerned. After discussion, the train was cautiously sent to Dhoki station, where the said coach was separated and the train was moved forward. A serious accident was prevented due to your alertness.
The General Manager in his address congratulated the awardees and complimented them for their alertness and dedication towards their duties. He said that such acts of alertness and bravery will motivate others to sincerely work towards the safety of passengers.
