Khed ( Ratnagiri): The transportation of goods through containers has commenced from the Khed railway station. With a focus on transporting goods for production in the Konkan region, a green flag was waved off for container transportation from Khed. Eight containers were loaded from Khed on Thursday. The first train from Khed to Jawaharlal Nehru (JNPT) Port has been dispatched. This development opens up the possibility of exporting goods produced in the industrial estates of Chiplun and Lotte, located in the Kokan region, to foreign countries.
Under the guidance of Kokan Railway’s director, Mr. Santosh Kumar Jha, and the relentless efforts of Kokan Railway’s administration and CONCOR, efforts are being made to facilitate faster, water-efficient, and cost-effective transportation of goods produced in Kokan. To enhance the services for railway freight customers, efforts are being made to expedite the process.
During the inauguration ceremony of the container goods train at Khed railway station on Thursday, the Divisional Manager of Kokan Railways, Mr. Ravindra Kamble, Senior Traffic Manager Dilip Bhat, CONCOR’s Rajan Salunkhe, Harshvardhan, Nitin Chavan, Sesha Logistics’ Siddharam Ambre, Sagar Ambre, Patil from Krishna Antioxidant Company, Yadav, Roy from Kokan Railway’s Area Supervisor, Anup Pednekar, Goods Supervisor, and other officials were present.
CONCOR had previously established the container railway transportation system in Ratnagiri. Goods such as marine fish, Alphonso mangoes processed in Ratnagiri are being exported to foreign countries through Kokan Railways. The benefits of goods transportation initiated from Khed were clearly demonstrated. Kokan Railways have provided basic facilities in Khed and Ratnagiri for business growth, including warehouses and cold storage facilities. Khed entrepreneurs are hopeful of receiving better facilities from CONCOR. The groundbreaking ceremony for the container cold storage depot ‘Mahapreet’ has already been conducted in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, in collaboration with Kokan Railways.
