Uran, January 12 : In a significant event on Friday (12th), Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Atal Setu, connecting Shivdi-Nhava Sheva in Uran. The grand ceremony took place at the New Mumbai International Airport, with a crowd of over two million in attendance. Over the past 10 years, India has transformed, with a focus on cleanliness and the completion of projects worth crores of rupees. Prime Minister Modi emphasized the commitment to good governance and highlighted the positive changes in the country.
The ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including Governor Ramesh Bais, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale, Union Minister of State Raosaheb Danve, and others. The Prime Minister inaugurated the Maharashtra government’s Ladki Lakshmi Yojana, providing financial assistance to beneficiaries and launching various development projects.
Referring to the changing face of India in the last decade, Prime Minister Modi drew parallels with his visit to Raigad Fort and the moments spent near Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s memorial. He emphasized the progress made in various projects, including the inauguration of the Uran-Kharkopar local services.
Speaking about Atal Setu, Prime Minister Modi stated that it symbolizes the vision for a developed India. He expressed confidence that a developed India would progress swiftly, connecting regions and overcoming obstacles. The bridge also stands as a tribute to the late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and his vision for a vibrant and prosperous India.

The ceremony witnessed the unveiling of the green flag on the Uran-Kharkopar local service, a dream come true for the people of Uran. The 22 km route is not only capable of withstanding earthquakes but will also serve as a lifeline during emergencies. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde praised Atal Setu as a highway to victory, connecting Shivdi-Nhava Sheva.
The Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, expressed joy at the inauguration of Atal Setu by Prime Minister Modi, highlighting the groundbreaking ceremony he had attended. He credited the Modi government for bringing about significant changes in the country and expressed hope for further progress under the leadership of the Mahayuti government in the state.
The event marked a historic moment for Uran and Kharkopar residents as the green flag was raised for the local services, connecting the two areas through Atal Setu.
