Mumbai : The Roha-Chiplun Holi special MEMU local train services, which were announced for Holi, have been cancelled from March 15. Regular MEMU local trains running on the Diva-Roha route had extended up to Chiplun.

For the past two years, due to the congestion, the Diva-Roha MEMU local had been extended up to Chiplun, which had caused dissatisfaction among the Roha residents. In protest against this extension, the local commuters had disrupted the services two years ago by staging a ‘rail roko’ at Roha, demanding the cancellation of the extended MEMU services up to Chiplun.

This time, before such a situation arises again, the railway has taken a precautionary step to cancell the extended MEMU services that had been running.

From March 8, 2024, the MEMU local train running between Diva and Roha had been extended up to Chiplun. This train was being operated as a special MEMU train with the number 01597/01598.
