Mumbai : All 32 coaches of the MEMU train ordered for Konkan Railway have left the railway factory. So now on Konkan Railway route MEMU train will be seen running soon. It is yet finalised that this train runs on the Diva to Ratnagiri route or on the Konkan Railway route from the Western Railway route which is in demand by the commuters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With the completion of complete electrification of the Konkan railway line, most of the trains on this line are now running on electricity instead of diesel engines. As a whole, with the electrification of most of the railways across the country, the railways have adopted a policy of replacing the earlier rakes for unreserved trains with MEMU coaches, which do not require separate engines and have engines on both sides of the rakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Accordingly, an order was registered with the railway factory to manufacture MEMU train coaches for Konkan Railway. Information has been made available that all 32 coaches of the Memu train manufactured for the Konkan Railway as per the demand have left the factory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Memu coaches are shipped from the factory in sets of eight eight each. Two rakes for Konkan Railway have been dispatched from the factory for one train of 16 coaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the information received earlier in this regard, the sources informed that the Deendayalu class coaches of the passenger train currently running on the Diva to Ratnagiri route will be replaced by the Diva-Ratnagiri MEMU train.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, since there is no passenger train coming from Mumbai on the Western Railway route to the Konkan Railway route, there is a strong demand that the MEMU train with new coaches should be operated from Bandra, Borivali or Vasai on the Konkan Railway as a new train.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Travel organizations related to Konkan have also taken up this demand. The demand for this train has been pending for the past several years as the railway has to change the engine at Vasai road while bringing the train from Mumbai to the Konkan railway line via Vasai on the Western Railway line. But now two rakes of MEMU have arrived for Konkan Railway, it has become possible for Vasai to bring MEMU trains on Konkan route without the need to change the engine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
